About
Hi! My name is Daisy, and I’m a software developer and hobbyist fiction writer.
I have always travelled a lot ever since childhood. As I grew older, I stopped and did what everybody does. Focused on education, a job, a house, a stable life. The travel bug though grew more and more restless.
A few years ago, I left my 9–6 job working in the finance sector, packed an admittedly too large bag, and took off, retracing the steps of places I had visited when I was a child and exploring entirely new frontiers.
I started sharing accounts of my travels on the website Nomad Laptop. There you can find travelogues on my visits to bustling cities, mesmerizing beach destinations, natural wonders, as well as articles on solo female travel, minimalist packing, long term travel, and living the digital nomad life.
I realized recently however that I have what can only be called an addiction to road trips. There is something uniquely special about the feeling of independence that the road gives, be it on four wheels or two, in a luxurious motorhome, or just in a beaten-up car with a tent.
For me road trips embody the very idea of adventure and I believe that very “real” scenes and situations can only be experienced while on the road. The freedom that this way of traveling provides is unique, allowing one to stop at whatever raises their curiosity and interest rather than having to stick to predetermined itineraries. Driving in unknown places and cities, the initial stress that it brings, the peculiarities of the driving mechanics of a particular country, and the scenery that can be taken in are all part of the unique experience of visiting a place while on the road.
Do not take away my coffee or we're going to have a problem, but give me a scenic road, and I am happy 🚗
